00:00:00.001 --> 00:00:04.506
I think making peace with
yourself the inner peace
2
00:00:04.531 --> 00:00:07.889
is really the foundation of outer
peace in the world.
3
00:00:07.914 --> 00:00:12.011
And unfortunately I think
that's missed quite often.
4
00:00:12.036 --> 00:00:17.801
We get caught up in what's
happening in the world around us
5
00:00:17.826 --> 00:00:20.272
and there are some
really acute issues
6
00:00:20.297 --> 00:00:22.079
that need to be addressed
on the spot.
7
00:00:22.096 --> 00:00:25.739
But if we don't address those
issues from a place of inner peace
8
00:00:25.764 --> 00:00:29.185
we really run the
risk of making them worse.
9
00:00:29.210 --> 00:00:34.630
So again I understand my inner
peace is a tactical necessity.
10
00:00:34.680 --> 00:00:38.351
And as a Buddhist
I meditate regularly.
11
00:00:38.376 --> 00:00:41.849
To me that's my way
of practicing inner peace
12
00:00:41.874 --> 00:00:43.130
and cultivating it.
13
00:00:43.155 --> 00:00:46.748
At the same time it's always
going to be a process
14
00:00:46.773 --> 00:00:49.341
and never like a finished product.
15
00:00:49.351 --> 00:00:51.521
It's never a destination.
16
00:00:51.553 --> 00:00:57.498
I say quite often that
peace building is a process
17
00:00:57.523 --> 00:00:59.631
that you need to fall in love with.
18
00:00:59.663 --> 00:01:01.537
And it essentially means
19
00:01:01.562 --> 00:01:03.566
you know you work
on this inner peace
20
00:01:03.566 --> 00:01:07.256
and once you've kind of attained
a state of inner peace
21
00:01:07.281 --> 00:01:09.443
you can now manifest outer peace
22
00:01:09.468 --> 00:01:11.983
and you can help
other people do that.
23
00:01:12.015 --> 00:01:15.482
And we could have
an afternoon of peace,
24
00:01:15.507 --> 00:01:18.272
a day of peace,
maybe a week of peace,
25
00:01:18.297 --> 00:01:19.928
maybe 10 years of peace
26
00:01:19.953 --> 00:01:22.459
and then something really
messed up happened.
27
00:01:22.484 --> 00:01:24.256
Everything comes crumbling down
28
00:01:24.281 --> 00:01:26.795
and then you pick up the pieces
and start all over again.
29
00:01:26.820 --> 00:01:30.608
And that's life.
That's how things work.
30
00:01:30.633 --> 00:01:34.904
And when you can love that
process you win at life.
31
00:01:34.929 --> 00:01:39.881
And in that sense I feel
I do win at life nowadays
32
00:01:39.906 --> 00:01:42.281
and it's really a gift
to help other people
33
00:01:42.306 --> 00:01:44.445
process as well.
