An Israeli who grows up

assuming that every Palestinian

00:00:05.517 --> 00:00:07.640
being told from a young age

00:00:07.665 --> 00:00:11.750
that you are insecure because
these people are out to do to you

00:00:11.775 --> 00:00:13.930
maybe something similar to

and I engage with them nonviolently
9
00:00:23.545 --> 00:00:27.137
that also breaks their perception,
10
00:00:27.162 --> 00:00:30.466
breaks their narrative
of who I am to them.
11
00:00:30.491 --> 00:00:33.598
I need to break
that narrative by my action
12
00:00:33.623 --> 00:00:35.763
and nonviolence becomes key
13
00:00:35.788 --> 00:00:39.356
for the healing process not just
for my resistance, for my right,
14
00:00:39.381 --> 00:00:41.913
but for healing their expectation
15
00:00:41.938 --> 00:00:45.211
and their perception of
who I am as a Palestinian.

An Israeli who grows up assuming that every Palestinian is out to kill them, being told from a young age that you are insecure because these people are out to do to you maybe something similar to what the Nazis did to you. And I've heard this narrative being told by Israeli teachers to Israeli children. The moment somebody is afraid of violence and I engage with them nonviolently that also breaks their perception, breaks their narrative of who I am to them. I need to break that narrative by my action and nonviolence becomes key for the healing process not just for my resistance, for my right, but for healing their expectation and their perception of who I am as a Palestinian.
